Monday, 1 June 2026 No daily updates, we’re just living in Paradise but I thought I’d give you a conglomeration of the highlights so far along with some photos.
I suppose being a Brit I’d better start with the weather. Pretty mixed so far even some snow. Wendy’s been having a few rants. But now we’re into June it’s cracking the flags.
What have we got up to. Well Wendy volunteers at the Christian Centre 3 days a week which frees me up to do my things.
Walks with Wendy and hikes with some of my friends, especially Mike, is almost a daily occurrence. Also I’m leading Easy Hikes and Easy Bike Rides for the Park City Mountain Sports Club (PCMSC). Well at least I was until I fell off my bike and have a contusion (posh word for bruised) and fractured ribs. Fall was most embarrassing, I’d just come to a stop and put my foot down, but there was nothing there – stupid. Very painful, even when to the saw bones who did X rays etc. Can you believe within 12 minute I had the X-ray results and they’d been diagnosed – awesome.
Went for a second sawbones visit to get some pain killers. Gave me Percocet. After two days I gave them up as they play with your mind and make you hallucinate overnight – terrifying.
Mike, Marianne and a few others have been to archery almost weekly. I’ve finally got my compound bow tuned to my liking, so much better now I’ve got my release from home.
I’m volunteering with the National Ability (NAC) to do archery with kids groups and wounded warriors. Most of the kids groups suffer with various mental issues. It truly makes you feel grateful for good health etc., and appreciate what a tough time it may be for the parents.
Ten pin bowling is a regular Friday afternoon feature with Mike and Annie – old guys rule.
Clay pigeon and pistol shooting some Saturdays – those clays are pretty safe from me.
By way of a change went for a fly casting lesson. Interesting and not that difficult.
Meanwhile Wendy keeps updating me on the shit going on back home in Batshit Bonkers Britain. I’ve told her if she doesn’t stop it I’ll put Fox News on all day at full volume. So glad we’re here where none of it affects us.
Read a great book, “Suicide of a Nation”. Sums up the shit we’re having to put up with from our woke politicians. Highlights the suicidal empathy that’s being inflicted upon us by the ruling classes. Let’s face it multiculturism is a complete failure. We’re being swamped by illegal immigrants who have no desire to integrate. Our country is rapidly going to the dogs. Lack of free speech, two tier policing, putting illegals and immigrants before UK citizens and suicidal levels of illegal immigration to name but a few of the death knells for our culture and country.
Can you believe that after 55 years Wendy has finally found time to make me Macaroni Pudding – awesome. At least she cooks baked beans properly – minimu 20 minutes.
Thursday 18th June we go to a volunteers award ceremony at the Library. Wendy has been nominated for top volunteer award at the Christian Centre Pantry. Speech given about her, along with framed certificate and photograph. She’s been a volunteer there for 12 years.
Well it’s 4th July week here in the good old USA. They’re celebrating 250 of having escaped the clutches of Great Britain, and what a good job they’ve made of it – fabulous country. Let’s hope that ultimately our 1776 moment, BREXIT, results in just a great success. Not that our politicians want it to succeed.
It’s a really busy week. Sunday starts with a bike ride followed by 2 hours of Pickleball (nearly dead of exhaustion and heat stroke), then dinner with Carol and Angela; Monday I lead a hike, followed by archery at the National Ability Centre with a group from the Salt Lake Veterans, followed by dinner at Mariannes; Tuesday Mike and I do a coffee shop bike ride, lunch at the Senior centre followed by a wine tasting lesson – Spain and Portugal – then it’s a concert in the park with Michael and Laurie and of course wine; Wednesday is Jeri’s annual barbecue, I lead an easy hike with about 22 others, no barbecue as I have to dash over to Mikes to try and find his iPhone (success – it was in his car all along, what a surprise), followed by a leisurely afternoon; Thursday a leisurely morning followed by a short bike ride, then in the evening it’s Marianne’s 80th birthday party; Friday a hike followed by ten pin bowling in the afternoon and TGIF in the evening; Saturday is the 4th, 250 years of independence to celebrate, off to the Oakley parade with Mike and his daughter, plenty of free candy, then in the afternoon we all troop round to Mikes for a 4th July barbecue. What a week here in our bubble in paradise.
The images in this blog just about sums up my feelings on these woke, useful idiots who are dragging our country down.
Weeks fly by as we dine out, drink wine, bike ride, hike, shoot, bowl, archery and kayaking. Temperatures are getting into the 90’s, so hikes and bikes have to be at the crack of Sparrows fart. I wonder what the poor people are doing.
Michael and Laurie arrive. They even talk us into going to an opera in the park – we last 20 minutes before escaping stage left. Bob and Marilyn arrive so more wining and dining. Stroganoff at Dans was awesome. Mikes birthday on the 18th July was a dinner at Marianne’s with Mike’s ribs and lemon cake – awesome as ever.
Just more of the same, hikes, bikes, kayaks, shooting, bowling, drinking and dining out – awesome.

And now the rants

July 24th – Pioneer or Pie and Beer day – the kids arrive. See the next post.
